An invitation to dream @tastytwins
What is your dream (or dreams)?
We have always aspired to be positive role models to young women in terms of living balanced lifestyles. We have a really holistic view of what being healthy means, and we don’t often see it represented in the media. Our belief is that
‘health’ involves so many aspects of wellbeing (whether that be physical, mental, social, and so on), and we’d love to help other women especially explore what that means to them.
Who inspires you to dream bigger?
Our Mum has always been our biggest role model towards us! To her, food has always been something that has brought friends and family together and we want to do the same! She inspires us to believe that food is so much more than just food! It's all about enjoying special moments with the people you love and care about!
What dreams are you working towards right now?
We do have a very exciting dream that we’re working on at the moment, but for now that’s top secret! In the meantime, we’re always chipping away at our overall goal of inspiring others, even in small ways like encouraging conversations about wellbeing through our Instagram!
What role does health and fitness play in helping you to achieve your dreams?
Health and fitness is really important to us in two ways!
● It helps us to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be, so that in every situation we’re showing up and giving it 100%! If you’re feeling healthy and well within yourself, only then can you go on to look out for others and give back to them!
● We want to encourage others to explore what ‘health’ looks like to them, because it’s so incredibly unique for each and every one of us! Each aspect of health contributes to wellbeing in some way, and when you’ve found ways to enhance each aspect, then you can really reach your fullest potential!
What is one lesson you have learnt that you think is worth sharing?
Everything happens for a reason! It might sound cliche, but we believe that even in the worst of times, there is always the chance that something good will emerge from it. Something may seem like a massive setback or insurmountable obstacle, but in the long run, there is always the possibility of learning a lesson that you can
apply in the future.
What struggles have you faced along your journey?
Time has been a massive one for us - it’s not easy to balance uni/full-time work, running our Instagram account, working on future projects, as well as having a life! Not to mention the fact that we now live in different cities - it’s pretty tough to run a social media platform long-distance! But we’ve done our best to manage these challenges and make the best of it despite everything!
What tools do you use to help you follow your dreams?
● For us, we find exercise is a great way to let out some energy, get some endorphins following and set us up for a productive day. Whether it be a group fitness class, a run or walk - we love to move our bodies in a way that makes us feel good!
● In terms of physical tools, we love Canva (great for recipe templates), Lightroom to edit our images, and our iPhones (all you need to still take super high quality images!)
How do you stay on track?
To stay on track, since Soph is based in Auckland and Em in Wellington, we always have a meeting once a week to allocate tasks and split the workload between the two of us! As they say, two is better than one! So meeting once a week over Facetime is a great way to pull our heads together and ideate content and upcoming collabs!
What is a dream you have achieved already that you’re proud of?
We are so incredibly proud of our book! It was such a labour of love, and we were able to really incorporate our message about living a balanced life in a way that works for you! That was a lifelong dream for both of us, and it absolutely never gets old seeing it in stores or online! It’s also incredible to see people making the recipes we’ve created - it’s so awesome to see people enjoying them and sharing them with others!
