What is your dream (or dreams)?
My dream is to continue building my business, Two Raw Sisters with my younger sister Margo. Our mission is to help inspire and educate individuals on creating healthy sustainable lifestyles. We can become so consumed in what we look like, how we look in the mirror and what other people think of us, all of this is mentally draining and not sustainable. Margo and I have both been through it and we have regrets on being so hard on ourselves and not appreciating and just being our unique selfs.
What inspires you to dream bigger?
When people come up to me and share their own individual journey's and how Two Raw Sisters has helped them in one way or another. People sharing our recipes and seeing them enjoy the food and not seeing it as an enemy and something to avoid and restrict themselves from. Then I love it when I see all walks of life come through the doors of our kitchen to buy a cookbook or attend a workshop. The motivation and smiles I see on peoples faces makes me so happy. All of the above is what inspires and motivates me to dream bigger and keep striving for what Margo and I what to achieve long term.
What dreams are you working towards right now?
We always have so many exciting projects on the go! We are not ones to not have something going. We have recently just launched Two Raw Sisters APP, which is getting well used from people all over the world at the moment!! We are about to launch of 3rd Cookbook SALAD at the end of September, which is followed by a NZ Book Tour where we will be on the road for about 8 weeks. Hopefully we will be seen more in Australia too….but unfortunately I can’t reveal to much right now but keep an eye out on our socials for more updates!!
What role does health and fitness play in helping you to achieve your dreams?
Health and fitness plays a big role in my everyday life. After being an elite athlete for 8 years it is something I feel I will never be able to let go of, however my way of moving my body has changed. I have finally learnt to listen to my body and not thrash it everyday and use exercise as a way of punishing myself. I move my body in different ways such as running, walking, yoga, pilates and HIIT workouts. Doing some sort of exercise to start my day is important for me to clear the head and start the day on the right foot!
What is one lesson you have learnt that you think is worth sharing?
One lesson I have learnt is to create a sustainable work life balance. Working smarter not harder!! I always thought that if I didn’t feel absolutely smashed and knackered by the end of the day I had not worked hard enough…
What tools do you use to help you follow your dreams?
Following on from my lesson that I have learnt, I have started to book time out for myself in my day. I literally book an appointment out on my work calendar for me, it can be anywhere between 5mins to 60mins depending on what my overall day is looking like and where I am. It was always filled up with appointments with other people and nothing for myself. I found I have started to work a lot more productively since doing this and am a lot more creative with my work.
How do you stay on track?
Each week I write out my priorities for the week as I find a long list of tasks overwhelms me. Breaking down the tasks into urgent and non-urgent works really well for me. I live by my calendar everyday, I would be lost without having it!
What is a dream you have achieved already that you’re proud of?
A dream that I have achieved already would be taking the risk and going full time with Margo and getting Two Raw Sisters off the ground. Actually going forward with it was the hardest thing, the thought was there but it was a matter of going ahead with it and making it happen. I am lucky to have a business partner who I am so close with and know inside out. Having the support of each other definitely helped us achieve what we have so far.
